Versa SD-WAN Platform Engineer

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty platform engineering role focused entirely on validating, breaking, and certifying Versa SD-WAN releases in a carrier-grade environment. If you enjoy building out complex lab topologies and figuring out why a hotfix failed an HA failover scenario at 2 AM, this gig will keep you on your toes.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days deep in the lab building, deploying, and maintaining multi-tenant Versa SD-WAN environments from scratch. Your primary mission is to test new software releases, upgrades, patches, and hotfixes before they ever touch production, which means validating everything from virtual and physical CPE performance to disaster recovery and resiliency scenarios. You will also interface directly with Versa TAC and internal telecom teams to troubleshoot gnarly infrastructure bugs, run root-cause analyses, and write up the test plans that ultimately decide whether a release gets signed off or sent back to the drawing board.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute mastery over the Versa ecosystem, specifically Versa Director, Controller, Analytics, and Concerto/Arbiter, combined with a rock-solid foundation in overlay architectures and multi-tenancy. Beyond Versa, this role demands deep enterprise routing and switching expertise—think BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, and IPsec VPNs—alongside hands-on cloud infrastructure experience across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. You'll also be living in Linux/Ubuntu environments, using tools like Wireshark and TCPDump to dissect traffic, so don't apply if you only know how to configure networks via a GUI.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to grill you on real-world failure domains by asking how you would troubleshoot a complex BGP route leak or an IPsec tunnel drop across an unstable carrier transport during a Versa Director high-availability failover. They want to see your methodical approach to packet capture analysis and root-cause determination under pressure, rather than just textbook definitions. They will also likely test your limits on multi-tenancy segmentation and how you handle state synchronization issues between controllers.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, your resume needs to explicitly feature the exact keywords from the job description, such as 'Versa Director', 'Versa Controller', 'BGP/OSPF routing', and specific packet analysis tools like 'Wireshark' and 'TCPDump'. Don't just list technologies; write out bullet points that highlight specific upgrade validations, lab builds, or carrier-grade disaster recovery scenarios you've successfully managed in past roles to prove you can hit the ground running.
