Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Java and SailPoint engineering contract tied to a major enterprise identity modernization effort, focusing heavily on migrating legacy workflows to a modern platform. You won't just be pushing paper or managing policies; you'll be writing real code, troubleshooting production logs, and making sure identity lifecycles don't break the business.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days diving deep into Java and BeanShell components, building out Spring Boot services, and custom-tailoring SailPoint IdentityIQ workflows, rules, and connectors. Much of the work revolves around stabilizing the platform, tackling technical debt, and supporting the MyIdentity/NGP go-live. When things break in production—which they inevitably do with complex enterprise integrations—you'll be the one digging through Linux, middleware, and application logs to isolate faults across the entire stack, from Tomcat and databases down to custom Java code.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to be completely fluent in Java, BeanShell, and Spring Boot, with a strong grasp of REST APIs, XML, JSON, and SQL. On the IAM side, deep SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) experience is non-negotiable—expect to build workflows, provisioning policies, forms, and custom connectors from scratch. Because this role touches the full operational lifecycle, being comfortable with Linux environments, Tomcat/JBoss, Git, and CI/CD pipelines will keep you from drowning in deployments.
Interview Expectations
When the hiring team drills down into your background, they are going to test your production troubleshooting mettle. They will likely ask you to explain a time you diagnosed a complex memory leak or a deadlock in a Java application running on Tomcat, wanting to hear your systematic approach to log analysis and thread dumps. They might also present a scenario where a SailPoint IIQ provisioning workflow hangs during aggregation and ask you how you would isolate whether the bottleneck is in the BeanShell rule, the connector, or the authoritative HR source.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream enterprise IAM and hands-on coding, not just high-level architecture. Make sure keywords like SailPoint IdentityIQ, BeanShell, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and production incident troubleshooting are front and center. If you have experience migrating legacy identity systems or handling platform upgrades, put those projects at the very top of your experience section to immediately catch the eye of the technical screeners.
