Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting Senior IT Business Analyst role where you will act as the crucial link between business stakeholders and technical teams, balancing multiple projects across complex lifecycles. It is a hybrid setup requiring you to live in Utah and show up on-site 1-2 times a month, so it suits someone who appreciates a blend of remote autonomy and face-to-face alignment.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be juggling three to five projects at once, running requirements-gathering sessions, and drafting exhaustive Business and Functional Requirement Documents. Your days will be spent translating abstract business problems into concrete user stories, building workflow diagrams, and performing data and process mapping. You'll also work closely with project managers to keep everything on schedule while mitigating risks before they bubble up to the engineering teams.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive here, you need a deep fluency in systems architecture, data flows, and both Agile/Scrum and Waterfall delivery models. Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Visio, and Smartsheet is heavily favored, along with a solid grasp of dashboard design and reporting requirements. Because this position leans heavily into financial or technical institutions, prior domain knowledge in banking or financial services will make you instantly effective.
Interview Expectations
Expect the interviewers to throw a complex scenario at you involving conflicting requirements from multiple business units and ask how you prioritize them without alienating stakeholders. They are testing your diplomacy and ability to say 'no' constructively. You'll likely also be asked to walk through how you translate a vague business goal into precise user stories and technical requirements for an Agile sprint team.
Application Advice
Skip the generic corporate fluff on your resume and tailor it to highlight your enterprise-level requirements documentation and cross-functional project management. Make sure keywords like 'BRD', 'FRD', 'system architecture', 'Agile', and 'process mapping' are front and center so your profile easily glides through their ATS. Emphasize your background in technical or financial spaces to instantly stand out from the crowd.
