Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting delivery role where you will be driving massive digital commerce initiatives for a retail brand right out of their Charlotte office. If you enjoy wrangling complex headless storefronts, orchestrating peak holiday readiness, and bridging the gap between frantic product teams and deep backend engineers, this one is worth a close look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a mix of traditional Agile ceremonies and high-stakes omnichannel coordination. You'll be sitting at the intersection of frontend UI teams, backend microservices squads, and third-party vendors, making sure payment gateways, promotion engines, and fulfillment integrations don't break under pressure. A huge part of this gig involves managing peak readiness, meaning you'll own the freeze schedules and load testing governance to ensure the site doesn't crash when Q4 hits.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to speak the language of modern retail tech. While you won't be writing code, you must comfortably parse discussions around microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP, and enterprise platforms like Salesforce Commerce Cloud or headless MACH stacks. Familiarity with Order Management Systems and event streaming like Kafka will make your life significantly easier when untangling cross-platform inventory data.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a realistic crisis scenario your way, such as a critical payment gateway integration failing two weeks before a major holiday sale while offshore teams are blocked by a downstream API dependency. They want to see how you handle RAID logs, triage pressure, and communicate risks upward without panicking. You'll also likely be grilled on how you handle scope creep and manage trade-offs when business stakeholders demand last-minute feature additions right in the middle of a sprint.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream retail eCommerce delivery. Ditch the generic project management fluff and explicitly highlight your experience with cart-to-checkout flows, omnichannel fulfillment like BOPIS, and managing high-volume traffic events. Make sure keywords like Jira, Confluence, RAID logs, and microservices architecture are front and center so you easily clear the ATS screening and prove you've operated in fast-paced retail environments before.
