Principal Engineer - Customer Domain & Customer Central

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting Principal Engineer role focused entirely on Customer 360, MDM, and enterprise identity resolution at scale. You'll be stepping in to own the technical strategy and modernization roadmap for Customer Central, bridging the gap between legacy constraints and future AI/ML data readiness. If you enjoy untangling complex identity resolution pipelines and setting architectural standards across massive enterprise platforms, this one is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will be a mix of high-level architecture design, code and design reviews, and acting as the ultimate technical escalation point for production reliability. You'll spend a lot of time defining matching and survivorship rules, optimizing real-time data integrations, and collaborating closely with product managers and data governance teams. Expect to mentor senior engineers, audit CI/CD and observability pipelines, and constantly look for ways to pay down technical debt without slowing down the business.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute mastery over Master Data Management (MDM), identity resolution frameworks, and enterprise-scale customer mastering. A deep background in event-driven architectures, scalable cloud platforms, APIs, and complex data integration patterns is non-negotiable. Because you'll be feeding downstream analytics and AI/ML models, you also need a strong grasp of data quality, data governance, and metadata management best practices.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on handling catastrophic failures in distributed customer mastering pipelines, specifically how you would troubleshoot a silent corruption in golden record survivorship rules. They are also going to test your architectural pragmatism by asking how you would drive modernization of a legacy monolithic customer data platform without breaking upstream consumers or stalling ongoing product delivery. Focus your answers on risk mitigation, observability, and incremental migration strategies rather than just a total rewrite.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, your resume needs to explicitly feature keywords like Customer 360, MDM, identity resolution, matching and survivorship, and cloud modernization. Don't just list technologies; highlight quantifiable outcomes where you scaled an enterprise data platform, reduced production incidents, or successfully drove cross-functional engineering standards from the ground up.
