Business Analyst - P&C Insurance

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty Business Analyst role centered around modernizing legacy software in the Property & Casualty insurance sector. You will act as the crucial bridge between non-technical business stakeholders and hard-core development teams, translating messy insurance workflows into clean, actionable functional specifications.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days knee-deep in requirements gathering, untangling legacy billing logic, and mapping out complex business workflows using MS Visio. You will be writing detailed BRDs, FRSs, and user stories while guiding clients through future-state process changes. A significant part of your time will go toward running design sessions, coordinating UAT, and making sure the engineering team builds what the business actually asked for, rather than what they accidentally described.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a solid foundation in the Agile SDLC and deep fluency with functional documentation frameworks like use cases, process flows, and wireframing. Experience within the P&C insurance domain is a massive plus here—specifically knowing your way around Policy Administration Systems (PAS), legacy claims, and billing applications. If you've previously touched Insurity products or handled complex data migration rules, you'll feel right at home.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a messy scenario your way, such as dealing with two enterprise stakeholders who have completely contradictory requirements for a claims workflow, and asking how you would resolve the deadlock without alienating either party. They are secretly testing your diplomacy, critical thinking, and ability to steer a project back on track when scope creep hits hard. You should also be ready to walk them through a complex BRD or process model you've built in the past, explaining how you handled edge cases and legacy system constraints.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream 'insurance domain expertise' if you want to clear the ATS. Don't just list generic business analyst tasks; explicitly highlight your experience with P&C insurance, Policy Administration Systems, and legacy system integrations. Make sure keywords like 'BRD', 'FRs', 'Agile SDLC', 'MS Visio', and 'UAT' are prominent in your bullet points to prove you can hit the ground running from day one.
