Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting architecture role where you won't just be drawing diagrams; you'll be actively shaping how hybrid and multi-cloud environments talk to each other securely at scale. If you enjoy untangling messy enterprise topologies, setting strict cloud connectivity standards, and mentoring engineers who break things, this gig actually lets you drive real technical strategy instead of just rubber-stamping tickets.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between high-level strategy and deep-dive technical reviews. You'll spend plenty of time mapping out VPCs, figuring out complex routing and segmentation puzzles, and working hand-in-hand with security to make sure data compliance doesn't grind feature delivery to a halt. Expect to lead architecture reviews where you'll need to defend your design choices to stakeholders who might not know a BGP route from a load balancer, meaning you'll need both deep technical chops and solid communication skills.
The Core Tech Stack
You'll live and breathe multi-cloud networking, Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, and enterprise-grade routing protocols. The company needs someone who already knows the failure modes of major public cloud networks inside and out, so having an expert-level cloud networking certification isn't just nice to haveāit's your ticket in. You also need to be fluent in modern network security frameworks and automated deployment pipelines, because manual configurations are a hard no here.
Interview Expectations
They're going to test how you handle failure at scale, so expect a scenario-based question about diagnosing a cascading routing failure across a hybrid cloud and on-prem setup while maintaining strict compliance. They want to hear how you systematically isolate the bottleneck without panicking. You'll also likely get grilled on your Infrastructure-as-Code strategies, specifically how you manage state and handle drift in massive enterprise network deployments; the hiring manager is secretly listening for maturity in your automation approach, not just syntax memorization.
Application Advice
Don't just list every certification you've ever earned; the recruiter needs to see proof of your large-scale project leadership right at the top of your resume. Explicitly highlight your experience with public cloud VPCs, hybrid connectivity, and IaC tools like Terraform to clear the ATS keyword filters. Since the JD specifically asks for work samples, make sure you have an anonymized architecture diagram or technical whitepaper ready to share when they ask.
