Cloud Security Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting leadership and engineering role where you will be bridging the gap between high-level executive strategy and day-to-day SOC operations in Dallas. If you like sitting in a silo writing config files, this isn't for you—they need someone who can wrangle stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and actually lock down cloud infrastructure. It's a year-long contract that demands serious maturity in handling both physical-to-digital security convergence and heavy enterprise compliance.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days juggling executive briefings and tactical security operations, ensuring that the Security Operations Center (SOC) isn't just treading water, but actively hunting threats. Expect to design advanced threat detection pipelines, oversee complex cybersecurity projects, and talk in plain English to senior leadership about why certain risks matter. You'll also be mentoring a team of security pros, so a chunk of your time will go toward leveling up their technical chops and aligning your infrastructure with strict regulatory frameworks.

The Core Tech Stack

They need someone who knows their way around cloud-native environments, so deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an absolute non-negotiable. You need to be completely fluent in Kubernetes security because container sprawl is real here, and you'll be writing scripts to automate threat detection and response workflows. If you have any background working in the airline industry, consider that a massive bonus that will instantly fast-track your resume.

Interview Expectations

Since this is an onsite role with a face-to-face interview process, expect them to grill you on real-world incident response and how you handle Kubernetes cluster hardening under pressure. They might ask you to walk through a scenario where a production cluster is compromised and how you would coordinate containment while simultaneously briefing a non-technical C-suite. They aren't just testing your technical syntax; they want to see if you can keep a cool head and communicate clearly when things are burning down.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list tools, but highlights your leadership experience and how you've scaled security operations in past roles. Explicitly pepper in keywords like Cloud Security, Kubernetes, scripting languages, and compliance standards like ISO 27001 or PCI-DSS so you easily clear the initial ATS filters. Tie your past achievements directly to measurable KPIs, showing how your threat detection strategies actually reduced risk for the business.
