Senior Java Cloud Engineer - Azure

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting senior technical role for someone who truly understands enterprise Java development and cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. You will be building resilient microservices, tackling scaling challenges, and actively eliminating technical debt across complex distributed systems.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days writing clean code, architecting integrations, and guiding a team of engineers through the realities of cloud-native development. You won't just be dropping code into a repository; you'll be conducting root cause analysis on systemic issues, partnering with security teams to bake compliance into the early stages of the lifecycle, and anticipating latency and durability bottlenecks before they impact production. It's hands-on engineering paired with high-level technical leadership.

The Core Tech Stack

Your bread and butter here will be modern Java—specifically Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3—combined with a deep-seated mastery of Microsoft Azure. You need to be completely comfortable orchestrating containers with Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), spinning up resources with robust networking configurations, and leveraging data stores like Azure Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL. On top of that, your deployment pipelines better be tight, relying on GitHub Actions, Bash, or Python for seamless automation.

Interview Expectations

Since this requires an in-person interview process and 10+ years under your belt, expect grilling questions on distributed system failure modes and cloud architecture patterns. They will likely ask you to explain how you would debug a cascading latency issue in an AKS cluster utilizing Event Hub and Cosmos DB, and what specific steps you take to isolate the bottleneck. The hiring manager is looking for architectural intuition, showing you know how to balance speed of delivery with system durability and security.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to skip the generic buzzwords and laser-focus on your production-level experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot 3, and Azure infrastructure. Make sure terms like Azure Kubernetes Service, GitHub Actions, and REST/GraphQL APIs are explicitly highlighted in your project bullets. If you've previously led technical debt reduction initiatives or mentored junior engineers while shipping enterprise code, bring those exact metrics and outcomes to the forefront of your application.
