Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting strategic procurement role where you will own the end-to-end technology spend lifecycle, dealing with high-stakes vendor negotiations and complex software licensing. If you enjoy sitting at the intersection of business, legal, and tech leadership to drive multi-million dollar cost optimizations, this gig offers plenty of autonomy and real organizational impact.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in RFPs, contract renewals, and Statements of Work (SOWs) for enterprise software, IT services, and managed providers. You will act as the connective tissue between IT leadership, legal, info security, and external vendors—balancing risk management with aggressive cost optimization. Your day-to-day involves not just reviewing contracts, but actively shaping category strategies and ensuring third-party compliance without slowing down internal technology initiatives.
The Core Tech Stack
You don't need to write code here, but you do need deep fluency in enterprise software licensing models, SaaS pricing structures, and IT service delivery frameworks. The hiring team is relying on your expert-level grasp of strategic sourcing and third-party risk management (TPRM) to navigate complex global supply chains and vendor ecosystems. Being able to talk shop with software engineering and IT governance leaders is non-negotiable.
Interview Expectations
Be prepared for behavioral and situational questions around a time you negotiated a contentious enterprise software contract and salvaged the deal, as well as how you handle pushback from internal stakeholders who want to bypass standard procurement workflows. The hiring manager wants to see that you can play hardball with vendors while maintaining collaborative relationships internally, proving you know how to protect the company's bottom line without becoming a bottleneck.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to heavily feature hard numbers—highlight the total spend under management you've handled and specific percentage savings you've achieved through negotiations in past roles. Make sure keywords like strategic sourcing, enterprise software licensing, SOW negotiation, and third-party risk management are front and center to easily clear the ATS filters and signal to the recruiter that you can operate at this scale from day one.
