MDM Systems Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a core data engineering and systems role where you will be modernizing and scaling the master data management ecosystem connecting Precisely EnterWorks, Snowflake, and downstream enterprise platforms. If you enjoy untangling legacy data flows, automating pipelines, and ensuring data integrity across a global footprint, this gig will keep you deeply engaged.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your typical week involves wearing multiple hats between data pipeline architecture, platform governance, and incident firefighting. You'll spend a good chunk of time migrating messy legacy Alteryx workflows and local SQL scripts into clean, Snowflake-native objects with proper version control. When you aren't writing orchestration pipelines or Python automation scripts, you'll be troubleshooting sync gaps between legacy sources and e-commerce layers, making sure product attributes, taxonomies, and pricing data flow seamlessly without breaking downstream Salesforce or Tableau reports.

The Core Tech Stack

Advanced SQL and Snowflake are non-negotiable here; you need to be comfortable writing complex window functions, managing streams and tasks, and optimizing query performance for heavy data loads. Python is your go-to duct tape for building custom API integrations and automated data-quality checks. Experience with enterprise MDM or PIM platforms like Precisely EnterWorks, Informatica, or Stibo is critical because you'll be directly owning attribute models, data hierarchies, and validation rules.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on your Snowflake and incremental loading strategies, likely asking how you handle late-arriving data or schema drift in high-volume environments. They are secretly testing whether you can think systemically about data lineage rather than just writing a quick script to fix a symptom. You'll also field scenario-based questions on root cause analysis for broken production pipelines, where they want to hear how you triage incidents under pressure and implement safeguards to prevent them from happening twice.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily feature your hands-on work with Snowflake, Python, and enterprise PIM/MDM systems to clear the ATS filters. Don't just list technologies; explicitly mention terms like source-to-target mapping, data quality profiling, REST API payload mapping, and ETL modernization. If you have direct experience with Precisely EnterWorks or migrating away from Alteryx, put that right at the top of your professional summary.
