Validation and Test Technician

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

If you like breaking things in a controlled environment to see how they hold up under thermal, vibration, and high-voltage stress, this is a solid gig. You will be hands-on with hardware testing, instrumentation, and root-cause analysis for high-voltage power electronics. It's a role for someone who prefers the lab bench over a desk chair and actually enjoys building custom fixtures and test harnesses.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be split between setting up physical durability tests, wiring up data acquisition tools like thermocouples and accelerometers, and running tests on high-voltage hardware. When something inevitably fails, you'll dig into the data, write up the test report, and help figure out why it broke. You'll also spend time fabricating custom mechanical fixtures and electronic test equipment, so your shop skills and soldering iron are going to get plenty of use.

The Core Tech Stack

You need solid experience with environmental validation testing and a deep respect for high-voltage safety practices. You should be completely comfortable operating standard lab gear like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies without hand-holding. Reading electrical schematics, interpreting product data sheets, and having strong soldering skills are absolute non-negotiables for this hardware-heavy role.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk through a time when a complex test setup failed mid-run and how you troubleshot the root cause under pressure. They want to hear that you stay calm, systematically isolate variables, and don't take shortcuts with high-voltage safety. You'll likely also be quizzed on how you instrument parts with strain gauges or thermocouples to ensure clean, repeatable data collection.

Application Advice

Skip the generic template and make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on lab experience, specifically mentioning environmental testing, high voltage, and custom harness fabrication. Weave in keywords from the listing like electrical schematics, oscilloscopes, thermal testing, and root cause analysis so your application easily clears the initial ATS filters.
