Operations Project Manager — Cross-Functional Initiatives in Computational Drug Discovery

StaffRight Associates

Job Description & Details

If you like untangling operational chaos at the intersection of high-performance computing and drug discovery, this role is worth a serious look. You will be the glue holding together complex computational initiatives where info security, AI governance, and massive data pipelines intersect.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days bridging the gap between high-powered research teams and concrete project execution. Expect to own the full lifecycle of cross-functional initiatives, from scoping out AI governance and security frameworks to tracking data compliance projects. The real challenge here is keeping multiple moving parts visible and aligned without getting buried in the technical weeds yourself, translating high-level scientific goals into actionable milestones.

The Core Tech Stack

While you won't necessarily be writing code, you need a solid grasp of computational biology, chemistry, or machine learning environments to talk shop with the researchers. Success in this seat hinges heavily on your toolkit for cross-functional planning, stakeholder management, and tracking tools that keep complex, multi-team dependencies from stalling out.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to test your structural thinking by dropping you into a hypothetical scenario where two critical research priorities are competing for the same engineering resources, and asking how you'd unblock both. They are looking to see if you can methodically de-escalate friction, protect project timelines, and communicate trade-offs clearly to both PhDs and executive leadership.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily emphasize hard evidence of cross-functional project delivery rather than just listing project management buzzwords. Make sure to call out specific instances where you wrangled disparate technical teams, managed shifting stakeholder expectations, and brought order to unstructured scientific or technical environments to easily clear their ATS filters.
