Application Support Analyst - Aladdin

Synechron

Job Description & Details

If you've spent any time working in financial technology, you know BlackRock's Aladdin is the beating heart of portfolio management, and keeping it stable is no small feat. Synechron is looking for an Application Support Analyst with 5+ years of experience to jump into the trenches, handle L1/L2 incidents, and ensure complex investment operations keep running without a hitch.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll be the first line of defense for Aladdin-related applications, interfaces, and downstream systems. Your day-to-day will involve monitoring scheduled batch jobs, untangling messy data feeds, and investigating why a trade or portfolio valuation didn't process correctly. When things break—and in finance, they always do—you'll perform root-cause analysis, work directly with investment operations and vendors, and make sure fixes are cleanly deployed without disrupting the business.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a solid foundation in SQL to query databases and investigate data discrepancies on the fly, alongside a strong grasp of batch processing, APIs, and file transfers. Familiarity with Unix/Linux and scripting languages like Python or PowerShell will make your life significantly easier when automating fixes or parsing through dense logs. Knowing your way around the Aladdin platform or similar enterprise investment management systems is non-negotiable.

Interview Expectations

Expect them to throw a messy production scenario your way, asking something like, 'A critical end-of-day risk report failed due to a missing data feed from a downstream vendor; walk me through your exact troubleshooting steps.' The hiring manager wants to see how you handle pressure, prioritize a backlog of broken tickets, and methodically read logs under a tight deadline. They are testing your structured problem-solving skills just as much as your technical chops.

Application Advice

Skip the generic corporate summary and make sure your resume immediately highlights your production support experience within capital markets or asset management. Explicitly list keywords like 'Aladdin', 'SQL', 'incident management', and 'batch processing' so you easily sail past the ATS filters. If you have experience writing scripts to automate monitoring tasks or working within an ITIL framework, put those front and center.
