Java Full Stack Developer

Job Description & Details

This Java Full Stack Developer position in Berkeley Heights requires someone who can comfortably bridge the gap between robust backend services and modern frontend architectures. You will spend your days building scalable user interfaces and hooking them into Java and Spring Boot backends, making this a true full-stack role rather than a disguised frontend gig. If you enjoy owning features from the database all the way to the browser DOM, this is a solid operational environment to showcase your breadth.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days designing and shipping responsive, performant user interfaces while collaborating closely with backend engineers to define and consume RESTful APIs. You'll be building out component-based UI architectures using React or Vue, managing complex application state, and making sure everything runs smoothly across modern browsers. Beyond writing feature code, you'll also be actively involved in writing unit and integration tests, optimizing rendering performance, and navigating CI/CD pipelines to get your code into production safely.

The Core Tech Stack

You are going to need strong, production-level Java and Spring Boot experience to handle the backend integration work, along with at least a couple of years building UIs with React or Vue.js. TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+) are heavily relied upon, and you'll need deep familiarity with modern CSS methodologies like Sass, Tailwind, or Styled Components. Knowing your way around frontend tooling like Webpack, Vite, and testing libraries like Jest or React Testing Library will keep you from getting bogged down in the day-to-day workflow.

Interview Expectations

When you sit down with the engineering team, expect them to probe deeply into how you handle state management at scale and how you optimize browser rendering performance for heavy enterprise apps. They will likely ask you to walk through a scenario where a REST API is bottlenecking the UI and how you would coordinate with the backend team to redesign the contract. The hiring manager is secretly looking for architectural maturity—someone who doesn't just write code that works, but understands how frontend and backend lifecycle concerns impact each other.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your dual capability in Java and a modern JavaScript framework like React or Vue. Don't just list technologies; weave them into project descriptions that highlight performance optimizations, API integrations, and testing coverage. Use keywords like Spring Boot, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and Jest prominently in your experience bullet points to directly mirror what this role demands.
