Project Management - Telecom Expense Management

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty, 12-month contract focused entirely on auditing, optimizing, and driving cost-savings for massive telecom footprints. You'll be knee-deep in reconciling thousands of carrier assets against internal databases, tracking down discrepancies, and fixing broken processes so the organization stops leaking money on unused lines and bloated cloud and mobile contracts. If you like digging through oceans of data to find hidden inefficiencies and presenting those findings to leadership, this is right up your alley.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend a solid chunk of your week wrangling massive datasets from carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, cross-referencing them with ServiceNow records for roughly 30,000 mobile devices. You'll be hunting down zero-usage lines, auditing invoices for overcharges, analyzing vendor payments, and forecasting budget variances. It is a very hands-on, detail-oriented role where you'll build and optimize processes from scratch, generate Power BI dashboards, and communicate cost-saving recommendations directly to stakeholders.

The Core Tech Stack

Advanced Excel is your absolute bread and butter here—you live in pivot tables, complex formulas, and heavy databases daily. Beyond spreadsheets, you need deep fluency in ServiceNow for tracking assets and generating reports, PeopleSoft for financial tracking, and Power BI for executive dashboards. Knowing your way around modern AI tools for data summarization and automation will also give you a massive edge in handling this volume of operational data.

Interview Expectations

When you sit down with the hiring manager, expect them to test your ability to handle messy, incomplete enterprise data sets under tight deadlines. They'll likely ask you to walk through a time you identified a massive financial discrepancy or vendor overcharge and how you resolved it, looking closely at your investigative methodology and cross-functional communication style. They want to know you won't get overwhelmed by manual, repetitive audits and that you can translate raw telecom jargon into clear financial impact for leadership.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list generic project management tasks; it needs to heavily feature hard numbers, financial analysis, and specific telecom expense management wins. Explicitly highlight your experience with large-scale data reconciliations, ServiceNow asset tracking, PeopleSoft, and advanced Excel functions so you easily clear the automated ATS filters and catch the eye of the technical recruiter.
