Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on, heavy-duty backend and cloud role meant for someone who actually knows how to wrangle Python microservices inside AWS without leaning entirely on managed services to do the thinking. You will be sitting five days a week in Wilmington, DE, building out enterprise-grade systems where performance and security actually matter. If you are looking for a relaxed remote gig, this is definitely not it.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days architecting, writing, and optimizing RESTful APIs using Python frameworks while making sure your front-end teammates have solid React components to hook into. A lot of your time will go into standing up event-driven architectures, wrangling database queries that are slowing down production, and making sure container deployments on Kubernetes or ECS don't fall over during peak traffic. Expect to spend a solid chunk of your week writing comprehensive tests and refining CI/CD pipelines.
The Core Tech Stack
Python is your primary weapon here, specifically working within FastAPI, Flask, or Django REST Framework depending on the legacy vs. greenfield boundaries of the service. You need deep, production-level familiarity with AWS—we are talking Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito for auth, and container orchestration using ECS or Kubernetes. On the client side, React is non-negotiable, so you need to be comfortable bridging the gap between a robust Python backend and a responsive single-page application.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on how you handle asynchronous processing and event-driven patterns in Python; they will likely ask you to explain a time you debugged a memory leak or a blocked event loop in a high-throughput API. They want to see that you understand the trade-offs between different AWS database solutions and know how to secure endpoints using OAuth2 and JWT without introducing massive latency.
Application Advice
Do not just list every technology you have ever touched on your resume; zero in on your Python microservices architecture experience and concrete AWS deployment metrics. Make sure terms like FastAPI, AWS Cognito, Docker, Kubernetes, and React are front and center so you easily clear the initial ATS filters, and be ready to talk through specific deployment pipelines you have built from scratch.
