Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty backend and architecture role for someone who truly knows their way around SAP Commerce Cloud and still loves writing code. You will be building and scaling complex B2B commerce platforms while actively mentoring junior engineers and helping steer technical roadmaps.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in Hybris customizations, troubleshooting tricky performance bottlenecks like memory leaks or thread dumps, and designing scalable solutions for B2B workflows like Configure-to-Order (CTO). You won't just be pushing code; you'll also be actively integrating headless architectures using Spartacus and OCC APIs. On top of standard enterprise development, this team is leaning heavily into AI-assisted workflows using tools like Claude AI to automate repetitive coding tasks and streamline deployments, so you'll be expected to integrate AI agents and structured planning into your daily routine.
The Core Tech Stack
You need rock-solid expertise in SAP Commerce Cloud, core Java/J2EE, and the Spring Framework (MVC, Security, Integration). Because this is an enterprise B2B setup, familiarity with headless commerce architectures, ReactJS or Spartacus, and OCC API integrations is non-negotiable. They are also using Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and release management, so keeping those pipelines healthy is part of the gig.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a complex concurrency or performance optimization scenario at you, asking how you would debug a severely degraded production environment with high thread contention in a Spring-heavy Hybris application. They want to see how you systematically analyze thread dumps and memory profiles. Secondly, be prepared to discuss how you practically use AI-assisted tools in your development workflow; they'll want concrete examples of how you leverage AI for structured planning, custom skill creation, or generating test suites without compromising code security.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list SAP Commerce Cloud, but explicitly highlights the scale of the B2B implementations you've worked on, specifically mentioning CTO/ETO processes and headless architectures. Weave keywords like "OCC API integrations", "Spring Security", "Spartacus", and "Azure DevOps CI/CD" naturally into your experience bullets. If you have practical experience using Claude AI or building custom LLM workflows for software delivery, put that front and center to immediately catch the technical recruiter's eye.
