Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty backend engineering gig for someone who actually knows how to build, scale, and secure distributed systems on Azure. You are going to be knee-deep in Java 17, Spring Boot 3, and microservices architecture, dealing with real-world infrastructure challenges rather than just pushing simple CRUD apps. If you enjoy owning services from code to container to cloud and tackling messy scalability issues, this one is worth your attention.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days designing resilient microservices, writing clean APIs, and fighting latency bottlenecks in production. You'll be working closely with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), setting up private networking, wiring up Azure Event Hub for streaming, and making sure your Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL instances don't fall over under load. Beyond writing code, a big chunk of your time will go into debugging thorny production incidents using Dynatrace and Mezmo, optimizing cloud costs, and mentoring junior devs so they stop writing inefficient queries.
The Core Tech Stack
Your bread and butter here will be Java 17+ paired with Spring Boot 3 for production APIs, alongside a healthy dose of Python/FastAPI when the use case demands it. On the cloud side, you need working, battle-tested experience with Microsoft Azure—specifically AKS, VNets, and Cosmos DB with the MongoDB API. You won't survive this role without solid DevOps chops: GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines, Docker for containerization, and strict observability tracking via Dynatrace.
Interview Expectations
They're going to grill you on distributed systems failure modes, so expect a deep dive into how you handle eventual consistency and network partitions when services talk over Azure Event Hub. Be ready for a scenario-based question about diagnosing a memory leak or sudden latency spike in a high-throughput Spring Boot app using Dynatrace metrics, where they want to see your actual mental model for root-cause analysis.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to skip the generic bullet points and explicitly highlight your hands-on production experience with Java 17, Spring Boot 3, and Azure Kubernetes Service. Make sure terms like 'AKS', 'Event Hub', 'Cosmos DB', and 'GitHub Actions' are front and center so you easily punch through the ATS filters. Emphasize any architectural decisions you've made that directly improved scalability or reduced cloud infrastructure costs.
