Senior Java Software Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty backend engineering gig where you will be building and scaling distributed event-driven systems using Java and Kafka. If you enjoy untangling complex microservices and wrestling with multi-cloud infrastructure on Azure, you will find plenty of real technical challenges here.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days designing, writing, and testing production-grade Java microservices that rely heavily on Kafka for asynchronous messaging and MongoDB for persistence. Expect to spend significant time debugging distributed system bottlenecks, optimizing database queries, and handling tricky architectural edge cases like message replay, idempotency, and failure recovery. You won't just be pushing code; you'll be actively participating in Agile ceremonies, reducing technical debt, and occasionally mentoring junior devs who need guidance on best practices.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a rock-solid foundation in Core Java and object-oriented design, paired with at least three years of hands-on experience building event-driven systems with Kafka. MongoDB proficiency is non-negotiable, specifically around data modeling, indexing, and query optimization for high-throughput apps. Toss in Kubernetes for container orchestration and explicit working knowledge of Azure within a multi-cloud strategy, and you have the exact toolkit needed to survive and thrive in this codebase.

Interview Expectations

Expect to be grilled on how you handle failure scenarios in distributed systems, specifically around Kafka consumer group rebalancing and handling message idempotency during network partitions. The hiring manager is going to want to hear about a time you diagnosed a nasty memory leak or performance bottleneck in a Java application and how you systematically tracked it down using metrics and profiling tools. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want battle-tested war stories.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams backend reliability and distributed systems expertise. Explicitly highlight your experience with Kafka producers and consumers, MongoDB schema design, and Kubernetes deployments. If you've previously managed multi-cloud environments or migrated services to Azure, bring those projects to the forefront to easily clear the automated ATS keyword filters.
