Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Vendor Management Analyst role focused heavily on data reconciliation, spend analytics, and process automation within enterprise procurement environments. If you enjoy digging through messy datasets to build executive dashboards and automating away repetitive manual workflows, this position gives you the autonomy to truly modernize their VMO operations.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a mix of deep data detective work and dashboard building. You'll spend a good amount of time pulling data out of SAP, Ariba, and databases via DBeaver, then reconciling discrepancies across multiple systems to track spend, savings, and contractor headcounts. Beyond standard reporting, you'll act as a process engineer—identifying manual bottlenecks and building out Microsoft Power Automate workflows to streamline team operations, while also mentoring a couple of junior apprentices on the team.
The Core Tech Stack
Advanced Excel and Power BI are non-negotiable here; you will be building spend, forecasting, and savings dashboards from scratch that executives rely on. You also need solid experience with SAP Ariba or similar vendor management software, plus DBeaver for data extraction. The secret sauce for this role is Microsoft Power Automate, as the team is specifically looking for someone who can look at manual spreadsheet-based processes and engineer automated solutions.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to hand you a scenario involving mismatched financial data across two different procurement systems and ask you to walk them through how you'd track down the root cause and validate the numbers. They want to see your investigative mindset and attention to detail. You'll also likely be asked to explain a complex workflow you automated using Power Automate, focusing on how you handled error handling and adoption by non-technical stakeholders.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, don't just list that you know Excel or Power BI—highlight specific dashboards you've built that directly impacted cost savings, spend visibility, or operational efficiency. Make sure to sprinkle in keywords like 'spend analysis,' 'data reconciliation,' 'SAP Ariba,' and 'workflow automation' to clear their ATS and signal that you are a proactive problem solver who can take the ball and run with it.
