Retirement Service SME / Business Analyst

Systems Engineering Services

Job Description & Details

This is a targeted integration gig where you will help untangle and migrate the retirement plan systems of a recently acquired company into the main IT ecosystem. If you know the ins and outs of retirement recordkeeping and can translate messy legacy business logic into functional requirements, this role gives you a chance to make an immediate impact without getting bogged down in endless bureaucracy.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days bridging the gap between legacy systems and the new corporate IT landscape. Expect to deep-dive into how the acquired company handles participant administration, map out their data structures, and figure out how to safely merge their operational workflows into the parent company's ecosystem. You'll be the go-to person for all things retirement operations, translating complex plan rules into clear requirements for the technical teams.

The Core Tech Stack

Your domain expertise is your main tech stack here, specifically a rock-solid foundation in 401(k) and 403(b) administration and recordkeeping. You need to live and breathe ERISA, QDIA, loans, hardship withdrawals, and complex distributions. While deep coding isn't the focus, having a strong technical grasp of data systems and how relational data maps across platforms will make or break your ability to talk shop with the engineering teams.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to test your domain expertise with real-world edge cases around ERISA compliance and hardship withdrawal processing during data migrations. They want to see how you handle gray areas in plan rules when legacy data doesn't cleanly map into a modern database. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear war stories of how you have successfully untangled messy operational workflows in past projects.

Application Advice

Skip the generic corporate fluff on your resume and put your specific retirement plan administration acronyms right at the top—ERISA, QDIA, 401k, and 403b need to be clearly visible for the ATS to pick them up. Highlight any past data migration or acquisition integration work you've done, focusing heavily on your business analyst chops and ability to talk directly to both business stakeholders and technical teams.
