Vendor Management Analyst

SES Systems Engineering Services Corporation

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on vendor management support role where you will act as the operational right hand for a Vendor Management Office at a major enterprise. If you enjoy wrangling complex data, migrating messy spreadsheets into structured platforms, and building reporting dashboards, this contract will keep you heavily utilized.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your primary focus will revolve around data hygiene and migration, taking legacy vendor tracking spreadsheets and moving them into a proper application environment. You'll spend a lot of time analyzing vendor metrics, building and maintaining PowerBI dashboards, and fielding day-to-day operational requests. You won't just be pushing numbers around; you'll be expected to spot bottlenecks, propose fixes, and take full ownership of operational workflows without needing constant micro-management.

The Core Tech Stack

Advanced Excel is a complete non-negotiable here, and we aren't talking about basic VLOOKUPs—you need deep analytical reporting chops. PowerBI is strictly required to visualize complex vendor datasets, so your ability to spin up clean, insightful dashboards quickly will make or break your success. If you have SAP Ariba experience tucked away in your background, it's a massive bonus, but solid experience with enterprise Vendor Management software or large-scale data migration projects will get you through the door.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to test your data cleanup methodology. They will likely ask how you handle migrating chaotic, unstructured legacy spreadsheets into a unified system while maintaining data integrity. The interviewer is secretly testing your attention to detail and patience, looking to see if you panic when dealing with missing or contradictory records or if you systematically map out a data dictionary first. You should also be ready to walk through a time you built a complex PowerBI dashboard from scratch to solve a specific business problem.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume heavily highlights your past data migration projects, specifically calling out how you transitioned data out of spreadsheets into formal software packages. Do not bury your Excel and PowerBI proficiencies in a skills section; explicitly mention them in your experience bullet points alongside metrics and dashboard outputs. Inject keywords like "Vendor Management Office", "analytical reporting", and "data migration" directly into your employment history to clear the automated ATS filters and catch the recruiter's eye.
