Tableau Report Developer / ETL Developer

DatamanUSA

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty data role where you will be knee-deep in both reporting and pipeline engineering for a major client in Hartford. If you enjoy untangling messy data sources, writing high-performance SQL, and building polished Tableau dashboards that stakeholders actually use, this gig will keep you busy for the next year.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days bridging the gap between raw data storage and business-facing insights. You will be designing, optimizing, and deploying SSIS packages, writing complex T-SQL stored procedures, and ensuring data integrity through rigorous migration and reconciliation processes. When the pipelines are humming, you'll pivot to building and fine-tuning Tableau reports that translate heavy backend metrics into clear, actionable dashboards for leadership.

The Core Tech Stack

Your bread and butter here will be Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSIS, alongside robust Tableau development skills. You need deep fluency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing performance, because slow queries and bloated packages will sink this project fast. Experience with Talend and version control tools like Git for SSIS deployments will also be crucial for managing the codebase cleanly across environments.

Interview Expectations

Be ready to walk through a time you optimized a fundamentally broken SQL query or SSIS package under pressure. The hiring manager is going to test your deep understanding of execution plans, indexing strategies, and ETL error handling, so don't just talk about happy paths—be prepared to explain how you troubleshoot deadlocks and data mismatches. They also want to see how you structure Tableau workbooks for maximum rendering performance, not just how pretty they look.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list tools, but highlights your measurable impact on database performance and data pipeline reliability. Explicitly weave in keywords like T-SQL, SSIS package optimization, SQL Agent, Talend, and Tableau dashboard design so you easily clear the ATS screening. Highlight any data migration or conversion projects you've driven from scratch, as those hands-on scars are exactly what this team is looking for.
