Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty ServiceNow architecture role where you'll be steering enterprise-level platform design rather than just pushing out standard workflows. If you enjoy untangling complex CMDB relationships and fixing bloated ITOM setups, this gig gives you the ownership to actually do it right. Be prepared for an in-person interview loop, as they strongly prefer local candidates or those ready to relocate immediately.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be spent deep in the trenches of platform governance, defining how various ServiceNow modules talk to each other without bringing the whole system to a crawl. You'll be bridging the gap between business requirements and technical execution, designing integrations and APIs that connect legacy systems to modern IT workflows. Expect to spend a lot of time reviewing technical designs from junior devs and keeping the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) from turning into a spaghetti mess.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must know ServiceNow inside and out, specifically focusing on ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, and CSDM. The team relies heavily on your ability to build rock-solid integrations and API connections, so you should be comfortable writing custom scripts and leveraging the ServiceNow REST/SOAP APIs. Having your Certified Systems Architect (CSA) is non-negotiable here, and any extra implementation specialist badges for CMDB or ITOM will immediately put you at the top of the pile.
Interview Expectations
When you sit down with the hiring manager, expect them to grill you on a scenario where a custom enterprise integration breaks due to a ServiceNow version upgrade, and they'll want to know how you isolate and fix the bottleneck. They are secretly looking to see if you just memorize textbook definitions or if you've actually suffered through messy production outages and learned how to design resilient architectures. You'll also likely get challenged on how you enforce CSDM governance across stubborn business units without stalling their projects.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screens, make sure your resume explicitly calls out your hands-on architecture experience with both CMDB and CSDM, rather than just listing general administration tasks. Don't just say you configured ITSM; highlight the scale of the user base and the complexity of the integrations you built. Weave in exact keywords like ServiceNow Certified Systems Architect, workflow automation, and enterprise integrations so the ATS flags you as an exact match.
