AI Software Engineer

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is not your standard feature-shipping role; you are stepping into an AI agentic engineering team to build the actual safety nets and guardrails for autonomous systems. If you enjoy obsessing over failure modes, system boundaries, and defensive architecture rather than pushing UI pixels, this one is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days designing backend services and APIs that dictate how AI-driven systems behave when things go sideways. Instead of building user-facing apps, you are crafting cross-service controls, filtering mechanisms, and validation logic that intercepts traffic and ensures safety across the entire engineering workflow. Expect to spend a lot of time instrumenting distributed tracing, setting up strict contract boundaries, and acting as the technical anchor who mentors other engineers on how to write resilient, failure-proof code.

The Core Tech Stack

Your daily toolkit will lean heavily on Python and TypeScript for writing bulletproof backend services, backed by AWS and Terraform to provision and manage your infrastructure securely. Because this role touches distributed enforcement, you need a deep, production-level understanding of cloud environments—specifically leveraging services like Lambda, Fargate, and API Gateway—while treating Infrastructure as Code as a first-class citizen.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to present a system design scenario where an AI agent hallucinates or goes into an infinite loop, and they will want to see how you architect circuit breakers and guardrails across microservices to stop the blast radius. They are looking for your ability to think in failure modes, trace data flow anomalies, and articulate clear defensive design principles rather than just hacking together a quick fix. You should also be ready to deep-dive into your past experience scaling asynchronous Python/TypeScript backends under heavy load.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily highlight your experience with cross-service architectures, system-level enforcement, and infrastructure automation rather than just a laundry list of web apps. Make sure keywords like Terraform, AWS, TypeScript, Python, and distributed tracing are front and center, and explicitly detail any past work involving guardrails, LLM integrations, or safety patterns so the ATS immediately flags you as a senior platform or infrastructure-minded engineer.
