Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on integration and migration gig where you'll be helping an enterprise transition their legacy contact center infrastructure off Cisco UCCE and onto NICE CXone, heavily leveraging Cognigy for conversational AI. If you like untangling complex IVR logic and building voice bots that actually work without frustrating the user, this is a solid project to sink your teeth into.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days designing, building, and deploying voice bots, virtual agents, and conversational flows within the Cognigy platform, integrated directly into NICE CXone. You aren't just writing scripts; you're mapping out enterprise-grade customer interaction flows, hooking up backend APIs, and making sure the handoff between legacy Cisco workflows and the new cloud environment is completely seamless for the end user.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep, battle-tested experience with the NICE CXone ecosystem and the Cognigy conversational AI platform. Since this is an enterprise migration, you also need to know your way around complex IVR routing, API integrations, and JSON payloads. Understanding the architectural differences between Cisco UCCE and NICE CXone is a massive plus here because you'll be translating old telephony logic into modern cloud-native conversational journeys.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a complex integration scenario at you, such as asking how you would handle an API timeout or failure mid-conversation while a user is trying to make a payment through a voice bot. They aren't looking for a textbook definition of error handling; they want to hear how you design fallback mechanisms that keep the user on the line and gracefully route them to a human agent without losing context. Another favorite will be deep-diving into Cognigy's flow logic and asking you to optimize a bloated intent-matching tree.
Application Advice
Skip the generic project management fluff on your resume and highlight every single contact center migration you've touched, specifically calling out NICE CXone and Cognigy deployments. Make sure terms like IVR design, API integration, and virtual agent training are front and center so you easily clear the initial ATS keyword filters. If you have any experience bridging legacy on-prem systems like Cisco with modern cloud contact center solutions, make sure that architecture background is loud and clear.
