Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting, enterprise-grade contractor gig building out critical systems in the utility space. You will be knee-deep in modern .NET and Angular architecture, dealing with high-throughput event-driven microservices and massive SQL databases. If you enjoy building bulletproof backend patterns and complex distributed systems rather than just churning out CRUD screens, this role will keep you challenged.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days designing and implementing scalable backend services using ASP.NET Core, CQRS patterns, and event-driven messaging like Kafka or RabbitMQ. You will be architecting domain models using Domain-Driven Design principles while ensuring high performance through aggressive SQL Server tuning, indexing, and partitioning. On the frontend, you'll work closely with Angular to build responsive, lazy-loaded components that interact with versioned, contract-first REST APIs.

The Core Tech Stack

Your bread and butter here needs to be a rock-solid grasp of ASP.NET Core, EF Core, and Angular paired with heavy SQL Server optimization skills. You won't survive this codebase without deep practical knowledge of distributed patterns like Transactional Outbox, CQRS with MediatR, and resilient architecture like circuit breakers and retry logic. If you haven't wired up RabbitMQ or Kafka with proper consumer groups and dead-letter queues, you'll struggle with the event-driven data flow.

Interview Expectations

The interview process is going to test your architectural chops, starting with an in-person session in New York. They will likely grill you on how you handle eventual consistency in a distributed system, so be prepared to explain the Transactional Outbox pattern and how you deal with idempotent consumers. The hiring managers are secretly looking to see if you can anticipate scaling bottlenecks before they happen, so be ready to walk through a time you diagnosed a blocking query using execution plans and wait statistics.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily feature the exact buzzwords from this stack, specifically highlighting Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and specific messaging brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ. Don't just list technologies; write out bullet points that demonstrate how you used Entity Framework Core migrations, temporal tables, or NgRx in production systems to directly impact application performance and scale.
