Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting IT Technical Architect role bridging the gap between traditional enterprise IT and specialized OT (Operational Technology) environments, particularly within regulated gaming and hospitality sectors. If you enjoy untangling complex multi-domain systems, aligning enterprise frameworks, and securing industrial networks, this position offers a massive scope of ownership.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days acting as the technical glue between business stakeholders, cybersecurity teams, and down-in-the-trenches engineers. You'll be designing high-availability enterprise solutions, defining architectural roadmaps, and reviewing massive initiatives for scalability, security, and performance bottlenecks. One minute you might be mapping out cloud integrations or APIs, and the next you're diving deep into ICS/SCADA security protocols or troubleshooting latency issues across specialized gaming systems like IGT Advantage or Aristocrat Oasis.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a deep, foundational background in infrastructure, networking, and cloud platforms, coupled with strong exposure to industrial protocols like Modbus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and OPC UA. The team expects you to inherently understand IT/OT convergence, threat modeling, and frameworks like NIST, NERC CIP, and IEC 62443. Bonus points if you bring familiarity with enterprise integration patterns—APIs, event-driven architectures, and messaging queues—as well as major hospitality or gaming platforms like Oracle OPERA or Konami SYNKROS.
Interview Expectations
Be ready to walk through a time when you had to balance strict cybersecurity constraints with operational efficiency in a high-availability environment; the hiring manager is looking to see if you can compromise without leaving the system vulnerable. They will likely grill you on IT/OT convergence challenges, asking how you would diagnose network latency issues in a live, mission-critical operational setup while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to immediately signal that you speak both enterprise IT and industrial OT fluently. Ditch the generic architecture buzzwords and weave specific keywords directly into your experience bullets—highlight terms like Modbus, IEC 62443, threat modeling, enterprise architecture standards, and cross-functional technical leadership to clear the ATS parsing filters.
