Enterprise Project Manager

State of South Carolina

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, high-stakes Enterprise Project Manager role embedded within South Carolina state government IT operations. You will be juggling multiple medium-to-complex projects simultaneously, meaning you need to be comfortable context-switching and managing competing priorities without dropping the ball. If you don't like dealing with cross-functional bureaucracy or keeping stakeholders aligned, this won't be the right gig for you.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days knee-deep in project schedules, tracking deliverables, and chasing down dependencies across technical and business teams. You'll bridge the gap between technical developers and non-technical state stakeholders, translating complex requirements into actionable plans. A significant portion of your time will go toward risk management, tracking down risk triggers, and putting together executive-ready status reports that keep leadership in the loop.

The Core Tech Stack

While you won't be writing code, you need to be a power user of the traditional PM toolkit. The job demands deep fluency in MS Project for scheduling and resource allocation, SharePoint for documentation, and Visio for mapping out business processes. Experience working within healthcare insurance, Medicaid, or large-scale healthcare claims IT systems is a massive differentiator and will dictate how quickly you ramp up here.

Interview Expectations

The hiring panel is going to drill down into your experience handling scope creep and competing stakeholder priorities under pressure. Be ready to walk them through a specific time a project went off the rails and how you salvaged it. They want to see that you can communicate effectively with executive leadership without getting bogged down in overly technical weeds.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to heavily feature your healthcare IT and insurance project management background right at the top. Make sure to explicitly mention your PMI certification (like CAPM, PMP, or PMI-ACP) and highlight keywords like effort estimation, risk management, and resource allocation to clear the ATS filters. Remember that this role requires you to be a current South Carolina resident with no relocation provided, so make your local address prominent.
